Seasonal fruit and vegetables make up a large part of Ainsty Farm Shop. They are sourced as locally as possible for the freshest produce and sit alongside a full range of fruit and vegetables, as you would expect to find in any good greengrocers.
Ainsty Farm Shop works hard to bring the best of local, seasonal produce. During the asparagus season, the asparagus is picked fresh every day and brought directly to the farm shop. Ainsty only sells local asparagus and supports local producers by doing so. During the soft fruit season, strawberries, raspberries and gooseberries all come from Woodside Farm at Acaster Malbis near York.
As the season ends, the strawberries are sourced from Bielby Berries at Pocklington, where the strawberries are grown in poly tunnels. The rhubarb comes from Wakefield, in the traditional ‘Rhubarb Triangle’, and is becoming more and more popular with customers. Ainsty Farm Shop always has local potatoes in stock, which are usually delivered by the farmer himself.
Other fruits and vegetables are widely available and include apples, bananas, oranges, lemons, grapes, melons, plums in season, avocados, onions, cabbage, leeks, carrots, cauliflowers, swedes, broccoli, parsnips, beetroot, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, spinach and fennel. There is often much more available and at all of high quality and competitively priced.
