Meat and Poultry
Ainsty Farm Shop at Green Hammerton near York specialises in traditionally reared, locally produced meat. The beef, pork and lamb are from family farms who rear their livestock with high welfare standards and using natural feed to bring out the best in the finished animal.
The livestock is taken to local abattoirs before being brought back to Ainsty Farm Shop where it is hung in the purpose built coldroom until it is matured for perfect flavour. The meat is then butchered in Ainsty’s butchery department and cut to customers’ individual requirements. The shop also sells a range of local game, including venison, pheasant and rabbit.
Through the year, our poultry all comes from Nidderdale Poultry at Fellbeck, Pateley Bridge. The chickens are fresh from the farm and are of excellent quality, proven by the Little Red Tractor mark to show Assured Chicken Production. This means the standard of care is high and the feed is GM free and contains no growth promoters. We also have Gressingham duck and at Christmas we stock a full range of free range and barn reared poultry from local farms.
Ainsty Farm Shop can make up orders for customers who wish to either collect their meat directly from the shop or have it delivered by courier. Delivery is available anywhere in mainland UK and an average price (depending on proximity to the shop) is £10-£12. The meat is packed in ice to keep it fresh and carefully boxed before being sent out for next day delivery on a day convenient to the customer.
