Ainsty Farm Shop at Green Hammerton near York specialises in traditionally reared, locally produced meat. The beef, pork and lamb are from family farms who rear their livestock with high welfare standards and using natural feed to bring out the best in the finished animal.
The livestock is taken to local abattoirs before being brought back to Ainsty Farm Shop where it is hung in the purpose built coldroom until it is matured for perfect flavour. The meat is then butchered in Ainsty’s butchery department and cut to customers’ individual requirements. The shop also sells a range of local game, including venison, pheasant and rabbit.
Seasonal fruit and vegetables make up a large part of Ainsty Farm Shop. They are sourced as locally as possible for the freshest produce and sit alongside a full range of fruit and vegetables, as you would expect to find in any good greengrocers.
The in house baker bakes quality fresh bread, pastries and cakes every day. The breads range from white, wholemeal and granary to flavoured breads including olive bread and cheese and tomato bread. The Yorkshire curd tart is very popular with customers, as are freshly baked scones and teacakes.
The deli at Ainsty Farm Shop sells a large range of Yorkshire and British cheeses to suit all palates, along with a choice of cooked and cured meats, pies, pâtés and smoked fish. There is also a good assortment of preserves and chutneys, sauces and other essential pantry items such as flour, cereal, dried fruit and nuts, oils, milk, butter and cream. This is all complimented with a selection of frozen food, including fruit, vegetables, ready meals and local ice cream.
The coffee shop serves a hot lunch special every day, made with fresh produce from the shop, or light lunches, freshly baked cakes and scones, with tea, coffee or cold drinks.
Ainsty Farm Shop also provides catering for special events such as fundraisers, weddings or family parties.
The menu can range from spit roast meat served in a freshly baked roll to five course meals, individually tailored to suit the occasion.
